Details

New and improved “Low Rider” delivers a lower center of gravity for superior feel and comfort.

Note: Will not ship until January 2023

The Ben Franklin 2 “Low Rider” delivers a lower center of gravity and is the most durable composite helmet you can buy because the color molded throughout "FYR-Glass" Shell (including ridges) resists chipping, cracking and peeling far better than even Kevlar reinforced shells.

The Low Rider helmets offer a newly designed suspension and headband cover system that allows both the Ben 2 to ride lower on your head which lowers the center of gravity therefore improving balance while it also reduces strain on the head, neck and shoulders. The long term result is that the Ben 2 is the most cost effective, lightweight composite traditional helmet. It offers comfortable fit, balanced feel, low head ride and light weight of "old" traditional helmets, but with NFPA required performance levels.

You simply can't beat Ben 2's fit, comfort, performance…or price.

I would use the product if I received it. I ordered a black helmet in September and still have not received it and have also ordered a white helmet on November 27th. I would like to give you a ""real"" review of the product but have not received either helmet!

    Falls Off My Head

Posted by Verified Buyer on May 1st 2013

I was doing a Firefighter Survival Course at my local academy, and during the Maze, it fell of multiple times!! Enough times I couldn't keep count! My Department used to have the Carins 1010, I Soon to be switching to a New Yorker Leather as I will be purchasing. I do Not like this helmet.

    I've wore alot better

Posted by Verified Buyer on Mar 18th 2013

I'm a career fireman for 10 years, and have been a volunteer for 12 years. Between the 2 departments run about 5,000 calls a year. I average about going in around 20-30 structure fires a year. This helmet by far is the worse I've ever worn. It heavy, and sits high on your head. I've worn Bullard, Paul Conway, & Phenix also, and I would choose either one of them in a second on Morning Pride.

    Nice Helmet

Posted by Verified Buyer on Jan 29th 2013

I run with a Volunteer rescue-fire crew, we run 270+ calls a year I wear this helmet on all interior runs, All around it is a great helmet, I have a Cairns 1044 that I also wear but the Ben 2 is alot lighter, CON: the pin tabs that hold the head gear in place break all the time. But I would buy another one, Can't beat the price either.

    Seems to break a lot

Posted by Verified Buyer on Nov 11th 2012

I own and have been issued several Ben II helmets and I love them all with the exception of these new models. The plastic clips that hold the suspension together must have been made of more brittle material, because they break if you sneeze at them. The older Ben's were pretty much indestructable, it really is a shame that these do not hold up like that.
