Details

New and improved “Low Rider” delivers a lower center of gravity for superior feel and comfort.

Note: Will not ship until January 2023

The Ben Franklin 2 “Low Rider” delivers a lower center of gravity and is the most durable composite helmet you can buy because the color molded throughout "FYR-Glass" Shell (including ridges) resists chipping, cracking and peeling far better than even Kevlar reinforced shells.

The Low Rider helmets offer a newly designed suspension and headband cover system that allows both the Ben 2 to ride lower on your head which lowers the center of gravity therefore improving balance while it also reduces strain on the head, neck and shoulders. The long term result is that the Ben 2 is the most cost effective, lightweight composite traditional helmet. It offers comfortable fit, balanced feel, low head ride and light weight of "old" traditional helmets, but with NFPA required performance levels.

You simply can't beat Ben 2's fit, comfort, performance…or price.

    I've had better (lighter)

Posted by Verified Buyer on Oct 26th 2012

I got this helmet when I joined my Career Department, as it is the ""standard issue"". They ordered them because they seem to fit even the largest head. Though because they are so large, they are heavy, bulky, and a bit awkward, especially if you are a small firefighter. I had mine for about 6 months, then I bought a used 880 Chicago helmet (because it was lighter and more low profile). I've been in the fire service for 10 years, this was the least comfortable helmet for me.

    Not a Leather

Posted by Verified Buyer on Oct 24th 2012

This helmet is being marketed as the end all, be all fire helmet. It isn't. It sits too high on your head (there's about 1.5 inches of clearance between the suspension and the shell). The new 4 point chin strap is a joke, I'm not a small guy and the ""V"" comes well past my jaw line making it difficult to adjust properly.

    Ben II's are BOSS

My JR squad uses these, as does the entire department as a whole. These things are rugged, lightweight and are simple enough that if it gets beaten up, it'll still look good.
